I really have no idea, the skeins I got were 459 yards and I barely made a dent in them

just wanted to let you know that i put the pattern up today. i think i only made one change... y'know how you increase from 20 to 42 sts on the head? with 2 rows done, with 2 sts every other row, it should take 22 rows, so you'd start the st st pattern on row 25, but you have it written as starting on 23.

A Question... and maybe suggestion?

What would you say the size of the finished doll is? Like, when one follows the pattern exactly... Cuz I want to make one that's bigger, but I would like to know how much bigger I would have to make it... you know? It's easier to modify stuff if you know what you're working with. If the answer to my question is there, in either of you guys' patterns, and I'm just too tired to see it, let me know. But I think a 'finished doll height' would be a good addition to the pattern if it's not there. (love the site btw, any knitter should be proud to have a pattern posted there)

Oh boy. I'm going to bed.

Re: A Question... and maybe suggestion?

Mine came out to be about 9.5 - 10 ".

I just finished making one of these dolls using this pattern (on #2 needles though) -- a picture's at http://pics.livejournal.com/jwgh/pic/0007egca/ . Thanks a lot!

The body back part of the pattern contains one error. Row 27 is the same decrease row as appears on the front of the robot, but since the increase that occurs in row 21 on the front doesn't appear on the back it ends up not working out correctly. I omitted the decrease, making row 27 of the back just another knit row, and this seemed to work OK.

Love your Marvin doll! He's SO cute! I'm going to make one of these sometime as a gift for one of my friends.

Just wondering, too -- do you have a link to the page with the one in the background on it?

That picture was from Amazon. I have a link to the picture: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000930BKW.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I'm having trouble finding it again in Amazon itself, though, so perhaps it's out of stock. Sorry!

Googling (or searching ebay) for 'hitchhiker's plush' and the like might turn something up.

Thanks so much for the pattern. You did a marvellous job. I did alter the pattern a bit (mostly to make the arms move), knitted on a different gauge to make it a bit firmer and tighter, with #3 needles) and had to work out a different pattern for the back. I overstuffed with polyester pillow stuffing so that he could easily be plumped to the right shape.

I think that you might have made an error in typing out your pattern for the back.
